About Me

Sydney (she/her) is a writer based in Brooklyn. She has experience in reporting, writing, communications and marketing, social media management, graphic design, newsletter curation, and more.

She works in nonprofit communications, following years of reporting and writing in various staff positions and freelance and copywriting gigs covering New York City news, climate and the environment, health, and workers’ rights. Prior to her current work, she helped launch the worker-owned local news website Hell Gate as a founding member and covered the COVID-19 pandemic, the vaccine rollout, and pandemic impacts on New York City as a multiplatform health and science reporter for Gothamist and WNYC. She has been featured live on local and national radio and television.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and global public health with a concentration in anthropology from New York University. For this degree, she completed coursework in Buenos Aires and Accra and interned for public health research organizations studying nutrition. She is also a certified trauma-sensitive yoga instructor (RYT-200) and involved in community composting initiatives in Brooklyn.
